What is a Bathtub Liner?
A.  It is a brand new acrylic bathtub that fits precisely over the old bathtub.

What is a Wall Surround?
A.  An acrylic wall surround designed to go over existing tile walls.

What is it made of?
A.  A durable, stain resistant, high-impact Durabath SSP- the next generation acrylic-, approximately 1/4 inch in thickness. This material will not chip, peel, rust or crack. The smooth, non-porous, stain resistant, high gloss finish is extremely easy to clean. Durabath SSP is much stronger, more durable and easier to clean than acrylic.

How are you able to match my bathtub so precisely?
A.  We thermoform an exact duplicate of your bathtub from an inventory of over 850 bathtub molds.  For example, if your bathtub is an American Standard bath tub made in 1952, Re-Bath will have that exact mold to manufacture from.

How does Re-Bath know which size bathtub liner to manufacture?
A.  A Re-Bath salesperson goes to the customer's home.  They take two photographs and several measurements.  With that information, Re-Bath can determine the size, age and manufacturer of the bathtub.  We have over 850 molds in our warehouse.

How are bathtub liners installed?
A.  A Re-Bath certified installer scribes the bathtub liner for exact fit within tile walls. The bathtub is then cleaned with denatured alcohol (denatured alcohol diluted 50% with water). The installer lines the existing bathtub with a butyl adhesive, then the Re-Bath Thermal Expansion Sealant is applied to create a gasket, after which the bathtub liner is inserted over the existing bathtub. The new overflow and drain are installed. A 1/8 inch caulk line is then applied around the edges, and the job is completed. This process takes approximately 3 to 5 hours.

How long is the product warranty?
A.  Re-Bath, LLC warranties all Durabath SSP material purchased from their Dealers for material defects for life. A manufacturer warranty for a brand new bathtub is normally 1 year.

How are Re-Bath Wall Surrounds different from other wall kits?
A.  Each Re-Bath Wall Surround is custom manufactured from Durabath SSP and installed over your existing walls with an exact fit. Do-it-yourself one-size-fits-all wall kits can be difficult to install and maintain and they are manufactured from inexpensive paper-thin material.

Do Re-Bath wall surrounds need to be grouted?
A.  No. Our system eliminates the need for grouting, as well as other tile maintenance problems.

Do I have to remove tiles?
A.  No, in most cases Re-Bath Wall Surrounds are installed directly over existing solid wall or tile.

Why not reglaze or repaint my old bathtub?
A.  Repeat applications are needed every one to three years due to cracking, peeling and discoloring.

I have some mildew on the silicone seal where the shower or tub panels meet the shower base or tub. How can I avoid this for the future and clean this up?
A. All modern 100% silicone sealants contain an anti-mildew agent. However, these additives flash off over a period of about 6 months after their application.

100% silicone sealants can discolor over time because the mixture of soap scum, water and skin particles that remain on the seal, form an ideal food base for mold to grow in. The blackish color that is typical to mold and mildew will then transfer onto the silicone sealant.

We recommend keeping the seams dry or to use a bleach mixture of 50% water and 50% household chlorine on the silicone seams to kill any potential for mildew.

If you want to tackle re-sealing your shower or tub, you can do so by carefully removing the existing sealant (f.i. using a utility knife), using a cotton rag with denatured alcohol to clean and dry out the area to be sealed. Then reapply 100% silicone sealant. Be sure to use only 100% silicone sealant. Paintable acrylic based sealants will shrink over time and create voids for water to pass through.

How do I clean my whirlpool system on my tub?
A.  Cleaning your whirlpool system should become part of your bathing routine. Fill the tub so that the water covers all of the jets. Turn on the motor and add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of dishwasher detergent (crystal type works best) or household bleach to the water. Run the motor for 10 to 15 minutes. Turn off the motor and drain the water from the tub. Once all of the water is drained from the tub you can run the motor again for 30 to 45 seconds to expel excess water from the whirlpool system. It may require more than one cleaning if the system has not been cleaned regularly.

Why should I not use soaps, oils and bath detergent in a whirlpool tub?
A.  Bubble bath type of products leave an oily film on the inside of the whirlpool tubing. This oily film in a dark, moist and relatively warm area is an ideal feeding ground for mold. If you were to accidentally use bubble bath type products, we strongly recommend you clean your tub as described above.
